What does confidentiality mean to us.

Confidentiality: Why It’s Important and How We Uphold It

Often spoken about in the fine-print of business contracts and program admission forms, confidentiality is an important facet of any business. At Barra-gi, we want you to feel safe and secure, knowing that your personal details are safe with us, whether it be sensitive identifiable information or confidential conversations.

The Importance of Confidentiality

“In almost every profession… people rely on confidential communications to do their jobs.” - Hillary Clinton

Workplace confidentiality refers to the collection, storage and use of all personal information provided to a business. Due to the nature of Barra-gi’s work, we collect personal, identifiable information, as well as details related to your education and employment history. There may also be times when we ask you to disclose health information such as injuries and ongoing illness so that we can adequately screen suitable jobs and employers on your behalf.

Keeping personal information safe is important so that you can have peace of mind that your identity, contact details and private information isn’t available to others without your prior consent. This goes for both individuals joining our job-readiness programs, and employers looking to partner with us for new job hires.

The Letter of the Law

Most Australian businesses are governed by state and national law concerning the way sensitive information is collected and stored. In NSW, there are laws and regulations that regulate both personal information (information that can identify you, such as your full name, date of birth etc) and health information (details of illnesses, injuries etc).

At Barra-gi, we value your personal and health information and will do all we can to ensure private and confidential details are securely stored. All information collected by us is stored on secure, password-protected servers that only Barra-gi employees can access. We also have strict confidentiality agreements, so that your information will never be shared to a third party without your prior consent.

Going Above and Beyond

“Confidentiality is the essence of being trusted.” – Billy Graham

While keeping your personal identifiable details and health information secure is a top priority at Barra-gi, we also value confidentiality when it comes to your circumstances, family, or other private information you share with us. Barra-gi will never disclose confidential conversations with employers or other third-parties without your prior consent – if you need an ear to talk through workplace difficulties or personal setbacks, but don’t want it shared, we’re here for you.

We work on a foundation of collaboration and mutual trust. We place trust in our program participants to see through our programs, and our employer partners to give our participants a go, just as participants and employers trust us to perform our work to the best of our ability, all while keeping confidential information secure between parties.

At the end of the day, confidentiality is key to our organisation. We want you to know that we’re a business you can trust.
